About Jamey
Jamey Johnson is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting. Mr. Johnson is the Global Leader of the Trial and Arbitration Support practice in FTI Consulting’s Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment and is based in Washington, DC. His areas of expertise include courtroom and war room technology, management of large scale and multi-district litigation, discovery management, workflow and process consulting and matter logistics. When the pandemic began, Mr. Johnson led the development of TrialMax Cloud, offering a remote and hybrid solution for trial and hearing support.
Mr. Johnson has worked in multiple state and federal jurisdictions in the United States, including Federal courts in more than 25 states. Mr. Johnson has supported many of the top global law firms, including more than 60 firms listed on the AM LAW 100. Mr. Johnson has supported these firms on behalf of corporations such as Altria Group, Bank of America, ConocoPhillips, Johnson & Johnson, Lockheed Martin, KPMG, Microsoft, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the major railroad companies.
Mr. Johnson has extensive experience supporting clients at arbitration, both in person and virtually, including international arbitration. Mr. Johnson has supported more than 70 arbitrations over the last twelve years, including arbitrations in the United States, Canada, Asia, Latin America and Europe. Representative clients include brand name pharmaceutical companies, global insurance companies, energy and petrochemical companies as well as governmental entities. Mr. Johnson has worked with the arbitration practices at top law firms, including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, King & Spalding, Arnold & Porter, DLA Piper, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, Paul Hastings, Hogan Lovells and White & Case.
Most notably, Mr. Johnson served as lead technology consultant to the major tobacco companies in United States of America v. Philip Morris USA, et al. With initial exposure of $289 billion, the case was tried for nine months in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Mr. Johnson began consulting with his clients four months prior to trial, attending hearings and advising on numerous technical and logistical issues. Once trial began, Mr. Johnson managed the complex process of coordinating technology on behalf of the seven law firms and more than 80 attorneys assigned to defend the Government’s RICO claims.
Prior to joining FTI, Mr. Johnson operated his own technology consulting business and served as chief technologist and in-house counsel for a web-based legal services company. Before that, Mr. Johnson was a litigation associate at Eccleston & Wolf. Practicing for several years, his legal experience includes the handling of dozens of cases and numerous appearances before state and federal courts. Mr. Johnson holds a J.D., with honors, from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he was Casenotes Editor of the Law Review. He is published in PLI’s Product Liability Litigation: Current Law, Strategies, and Best Practices, regarding best practices for trial technology and graphics in litigation, entitled “High-Tech Litigation and the Uses of Technology.”
