Eric Houle specializes in advising boards of directors, senior management and key stakeholders across the capital spectrum in complex restructuring and turnaround situations for domestic and multinational businesses. Mr. Houle has more than 20 years of experience leading high-performance teams across a broad spectrum of finance and operations-related functions. He has advised stakeholders in the industrial manufacturing, retail services, automotive, aerospace, consumer services and shipping industries.
Mr. Houle has extensive experience leading and advising clients across a variety of corporate finance functions, including FP&A services, liquidity and cash management, business plan development, financial reporting, intercreditor negotiations, and operational/functional area turnarounds. Mr. Houle has served in interim roles, including Chief Restructuring Officer (“CRO”) and SVP Restructuring where he held CFO responsibilities, and as Vice President of Global Corporate Finance where he was responsible for treasury operations, FP&A, and acquisitions.
Specifically, Mr. Houle was appointed as CRO to an industrial bolting and thermal technologies manufacturer in support of a $60 million recapitalization, where he led a finance team on a variety of workstreams focused on liquidity enhancement, cost optimization, stakeholder negotiations, business plan development and budgeting process. Mr. Houle was appointed Senior Vice President of Restructuring to a global manufacturer of tire fibers and industrial fabrics in support of an asset sale strategy, resulting in a $120 million benefit to the equity stakeholders. He led a variety of initiatives, including cost optimization, liquidity management, stakeholder negotiations, alternative strategy development, budgeting and the monthly financial closing process.
Additional examples of Mr. Houle’s restructuring experience include, but are not limited to, acting as Vice President Global Corporate Finance of a $650 million revenue inventory services company, with operations in over 20 countries. Mr. Houle was responsible for treasury operations, budgeting and planning, profit improvement initiatives, operational restructuring, and investor relations. Mr. Houle led the company’s foreign acquisition strategy and took a lead role in a leveraged buyout of the company. Mr. Houle developed the company’s FP&A group, regional and foreign financial and operational standards, and led a team of analysts focused on driving operational improvements. He also led consulting FP&A focused workstreams for a $5.0 billion industrials business with six manufacturing facilities in the US and Mexico. Mr. Houle provided an assessment and recommendations to improve the Company’s FP&A function, managed the development of a complex financial model, developed a finance function reorganization strategy, and spearheaded the tactical financial elements of the S&OP process.
Mr. Houle has an aggregate of nine years with FTI Consulting and its predecessor, a U.S. division of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Business Recovery Services practice. Mr. Houle also served as Vice President Corporate Finance for a services business, Vice President of a distressed floating rate debt hedge fund, Vice President of Strategy for a global private equity fund and worked with the U.S. Government abroad. Mr. Houle holds a B.A. in Economics and French from Union College and an M.B.A. from Emory University.
